Figuring Stuff Out

Our lateset battle has been figuring out how to do a Budget. I had never really ever been told about how to Budget your money..so this has been new. New is good! Silvia is the Budgeting Queen. She has been great sitting us down and going over our money with us. She got us a Budgeting book, and showed us how to use it. She also gave us a file folder box so that we make sure to keep all our stuff organized! Now for me and Ty to start seeing eye to eye about where our money should go lol We have been doing really good!

I am a visual learner, always have been. I need to see things out in front of me, so that I really get what's going on. This is our cute new dry-erase calender :-) When we move in to a new place we can just stick it on the fridge!

Yay for staying organized! I have really grown to love being more in control of all our stuffs..makes me feel more confident that things will be ok...and hey I also know where everything is!

Kinda blury, but ya get it. Our little budgeting book. It's really helped knowing where we are spending too much money, or where we know we can cut back on something to save money.
We noticed that we are spending too much money on eating out..not like major eating out, but the little like..$8 bucks for lunch or something adds up...

Getting the hang of this, and watching Dave Ramsey once a month will be really awesome! I hope all of you have things like this too, and if you dont...get on it!

As is LIfe...

Ok...Nanna is all better again. She was at the car dealership for the whole week! The car dealership guys didn't know what exactly was wrong...so they wanted to keep her to make sure they fix it this time. Well. We got Nanna back today, and turns out it was something else involving the starter...plus Nanna needed a new battery. So..$300 bucks later she is all fixed now! I HATE HATE spending money..lol especially really big amounts. We were able to pay for it just fine, I just didn't like it. It's 100% more better though then being told we couldn't fix it, so now we can have 2 cars again! Yay! Now we can mark it off our check list...again :-)
An "In the moment" Picture. That's Nanna behind me.

Our favorite TV shows

When you work at a computer at your job...being bored is something that happens a lot. As a result, lots of Blog updates! :-D So here we go. These are our favorite TV shows. Dexter is #1 for sure. This is a show that me and Ty can watch a full season in about a week. We have watched every single season. Our favorite seasons are 1, 4 and 6.

This is one of Ty's favorite shows to watch. He loves the Japanese culture. I however let him watch this one all by himself :-) lol

We just started watching this show. It's pretty good! I love the guy who plays Coach Taylor, he is a good actor.

Glee! Yes I am a Gleek, I love this show. I enjoy the music in it more then the actual story line..I think that some of it is a little..too drama. Ty usually let's me watch this one by myself lol

One word...ADDICTION. Me and Ty both watch this show and man...it's bad lol but it's good! I have spent full days before not getting out of bed watching this show. I love it...plus I love Patrick Dempsey :-)

LOST took us a couple of times trying to watch before we got into it. The first time I watched it, I only watched till about half way threw season 2, it got a little too weird for me. Then the second time, I made myself finish it lol I had to take a couple of "LOST breaks" as I called it when it got too weird, or something would piss me off (Charley dieing!) But by the end, we both loved it! It was amazing.

Sigh..Drama and attractive people. That sums up this show lol me and Ty both say that this show is...how Twilight should have been. We love it!

House...nuff said. lol We LOVE house! It's one of those shows that no matter what season it's on, you can always turn to house and enjoy it. I love everything that Hugh Laurie is in.

Best thing Tyrone ever did for me

Tyrone has always always known exactly how to handle my stresses in life. Simple or hard things. If I have a money stress, and think there is no way to handle it. He remains calm, sits me down, and we write it all out on paper for me to see that it will all be ok. If I am mad at a friend or a family member, he lets me vent it all out, and then just kisses me after, and says I love you. Then I feel all better again lol But the most amazing thing Tyrone has ever done for me was when I went out and baby sat for my mom's cousin in Arizona. I went out there for a little over a week and watched her 2 kids in High School, and her other one in Junior High. Well...when I first got to the house from the air port, I went into the garage to see what kind of car she had for me to drive. I lost all feeling in my entire body when I saw that it was a stick shift car...I did not know how to drive stick. Here I was in charge of the lives of 3 kids for the next week, and my thoughts were, I am going to kill us all trying to drive this car. I was numb, did not know what to do. So I tried to take it out with the daughter to learn how to drive it. Yeah...I could not even figure out how to start the car. I was so confused. I got to the point where I figured out how to start it, and I drove it around the block a couple times. I felt pretty ok about it after that. Taking it out into real traffic.....not so much. I stalled it every single time at a stop light, the pure panic of being stuck in the middle of an intersection did not help with me freaking out trying to calm down enough for 2 second to start the car again. Basically...STRESS. It was horrible. I called Ty that night bawling. He told me that he was going to try and drive out there to teach me how to drive stick. Yeah, sure ya are Ty is what I basically thought. Sure enough a day later....Tyrone was at the front door. He drove all the way from Utah to Arizona, on roads he had never been on, to come show me how to drive stick. When I opened that front door to him standing at it with that amazing big smile, I wanted to cry I was so happy. I could not believe it! He was really there! He took me to a parking lot, and after a couple of times, driving stick made perfect sense. I was a pro at it! The way that he explained it to me...I don't know how he did it but I was 100% confident in driving the car. I never stalled again, not once while I was out there. Ty stayed with my family that I had out there for the night since it was probably not the best idea for him to stay over night there. My cousin Duncan was great too! He let Ty come stay with him and was also a huge help driving me around until Ty could get there. If I remember right..ty stayed only one night and then left the next day. The rest of the time that he was here though, he hung out with me and the kids, and helped me baby-sit and baught us dinner. We went and got this huge huge pizza from some pizza place. It was yummy. I still to this day always tell Ty that he saved my life lol I honestly think that I would have at least gotten into an accident if he had not come out and helped me learn. Not only was it amazing that he came out and did this, but at the time we were not really together. I was mad at him, and wanted to stop dating him and date other people. He still came all the way out there and did that for me. Most amazing thing Ty ever did for me.

Meeting Johnny Depp

Ok so...I have always wanted to write about the experiance in detail about what it was like meeting Johnny Depp. MOST all of you know that about this, and you all tease me about it because I like to brag about it well...you are all just JEALOUS lol This happened a while ago...I was in high school I think it was August...2006. I am not positive but around that time. To really know me and who I am, you have to know that my passion in life are movies. I love to watch all the behind the scenes of how they are made, watch how the make up was done, what the actors say about making the movie so...having this experiance was an absolute dream come true.

We have a family friend who his job is filming movies..he has filmed some pretty big ones. Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3 were two of them that he helped film. He called us one night around 10:30 and asked us if me and my mom would want to come the next day and visit the set at the Salt Flats...yes!! We were very interested lol They were filming the scene in Pirates 3 when Jack Sparrow was stuck in Davey Jones locker..you know that weird scene where he is tripping out? We got to watch a good portion of that scene get filmed. My Aunt Wendy and Uncle Geoff also came along! (I may have spelled your name wrong sorry)

The night before it rained really really hard. So that made a beautiful glass looking furface over a lot of the salt flats we had to drive on to get out to the set. It was the most bizare thing I have ever done. It was like being in a dream. My mom was driving and she could not get over how incredible it was. We were listening to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtrack and getting it out of our system of what we were about to go do.

Since there was no way of really knowing where you were driving out there...they had these orange cones to direct us to the set. Right before driving into the set we had to stop by the guy guarding the set lol it was kinda scary answering questions about who we new on set and, promising that we really are allowed to be here...he kinda looked at like..hmmm but he let us go anyways.

As we got closer we noticed something big and black in the distance. We could not tell what it was though..mom kept saying she thought it was a crane of some kind..it ended up being the front of the black pearl! They only used the front of it, and when they edit it all I guess they add in the rest of the ship. The front of this ship though was still huge. When they brought it over for a scene, I just stood there looking up at it with my mouth hanging open watching it slowly go by casting a huge shodow.

The rules for going on the set were these: Don't freak out lol basically. It was a closed set to the public so, being allowed to be able to come on set and watch Johnny Depp do the scene was an amazing opportunity to be able to do without another hundred scsreaming fans, or news people. It was just us, the crew, and Johnny Depp. It was the most calm I think I have been ever in my entire life...even though inside I was freaking out. When we first got on set, Johnny was not out yet. Me and my mom were standing there when I look over and see Johnny Depp talking to the director..I calmly just kind of looked away lol and my mom turned to me and whispered, "Johnny Depp is standing over there..." "Yes, he is."

We were not allowed to have any type of camera at all. Not even cell phones. So I sadly don't have any pictures of that day..but I found pictures online of different shots that we watched get shot. This one we watched him do. The ship was actually not there. that rope went up to a blue screen, with some guys holding the other end. He did the shot different every time trying new ways to do this scene. At the end of this scene Jack Sparrow gives up and passes out. They had a matress ready for Johnny Depp's stunt double to fall down for him but, they didn't end up using the stunt double. Johnny just fell down all by himself lol There were a couple times watching that I thought that the blue screen was going to fall over because of how hard Johnny was pulling that rope.

This is from the same scene up above. Still trying to pull that dang black pearl...

Ha ha so before I talk about this scene I will tell you all about actually MEETING him. We watched him on the set all day. It was HOT! Being out on the salt flats in August...buh. It was horrible out there but I honestly did not think about it too much. Johnny Depp's make up person had to keep coming and fixing his eye makeup because it was melting it was so hot. I can't even imagine how hot he felt in that costume out there all day. We were also able to eat lunch with the crew and everybody. They had a shaded area for lunch and they had...everything in the world you could think about eating...seriously. I have never seen so much food. It was kind of funny because they had a few stunt doubles for Jack Sparrow and they were all sitting together at the same table. Not only did they have food for lunch, but then they also had a table for dessert...every flavor of brownies, cakes, cookies...you name it. There was a little break after lunch before filming again. We got to go meet the director and the rest of the crew. They were all really really nice. One of them asked us if we had met Johnny Depp yet, we said no and that we did not want to bug him, they said "Nah he loves doing stuff like that, we'll get you to meet him later." We also got to go talk to the prop person. She showed us Jack Sparrows gun, and the little crab things that are in that scene. I also got the opportunity to actually sit, and look into one of the cameras that they use to film.....amazing. Before they started the scene of the picture above this, our friend said Johnny had a minute and was going to grab him to meet us..I won't lie I was terrified lol I was so nervous. Johnny Depp walked over to us like Jack Sparrow lol It was such an out of body experiance. He came up and said hi to all of us, shaking all of our hands. I told him my name and that it was nice to meet you...that was basically all I said to him lol my uncle Jeoff did all the talking. The first thing that Johnny said to us was lol this was his first time meeting mormons, and that one time he got stuck in an elevator with the mormon tabernacle choir lol then he talked about how hot it was, and that the salt flats were unlike anything he has ever seen. I stood there listening to him but did not say much, I was looking at all the details of his costume. We talked to him for about 5 minutes or so, then he had to go back and do the scene. He shook all of our hands again. He was so nice, and super friendly to us. Then he went and did the scene of that picture above this. When he is standing there staring at the Black Pearl. It was funny watching him do all these different face expressions and then run off to chase the black pearl over and over again. So yeah...basically the coolest day of my life...so far lol I will never forget that experience and all my friends love to tease me about it because I talked about it for so long after wards but...if they had the opportunity THEY would be doing the same exact thing lol

Check out this cool little video about filming out there

If you click this video and skip to 6:06 you will see what I am talking about with the blue screen and the big section of the black pearl they had.

Dave Ramsey

I have awesome friends! lol We are awesome because we started watching Dave Ramsey DVD'S together. It's this amazing program that teaches you how to save money, pay debts off, make a savings account and, KEEP a savings account, and how to manage money all together.
At first I thought it sounded kind of boring and confusing, but it was the complete opposite actually. Dave Ramsey is really entertaining to listen to, and everything that he talks about makes perfect sense! It's mostly common sense really...He has these steps and the first one is, getting $1,000 as fast and as soon as you can into savings for EMERGENCIES ONLY. That way when you do have an emergency, you will actually have the money to deal with it, instead of being that much more stressed when the emergency comes...makes sense right? So yeah we will be doing that once a month! Thanks Kylie for making us get together and watch them! Thanks Dani and Lucas for the yummy dinner and Alix it was fun seeing you! :-)

Nanna...

Ok...so lol like I said life is not smooth sailing! We THOUGHT we got Nanna all fixed up but...last night I went to go see some friends in Farmington. Well, as I was leaving I got my keys out to start the car and.....nothing. She didn't start!! WAA?? I thought we FIXED this!? Sigh....so I sat in my poor sad sick car trying to start it again, and again and again for about 40 minutes. I finally called Ty to come help me and when he got there of coarse it decided to finally start. So...we are going to take Nanna in again on Monday and see why what ever was wrong, was not fixed right! It was one of those moments when...you know how you stay positive time and time again, taking every little piece of stressfull knews and thinking, "Ok..it will be ok" just keep moving! Then something small happens and you just loose it? I love those moments in life...oh well. At least I will appreciate Nanna that much more when we can finally fix her! IF we can fix her... Wish us luck!
